How a Compression Lock Works

When the blade opens, the lock bar moves into position between the blade tang and stop pin. This arrangement transfers locking pressure through the tang and stop pin while keeping the release accessible from the back of the handle.
One of the practical advantages of the design is the way the knife can be unlocked. The user can press the lock tab from the spine side while keeping the fingers away from the path of the closing blade.
