The Spyderco YoJumbo Cobalt Blue G-10 (C253GPCBL) is the largest of Michael Janich's Yojimbo-pattern knives, with a 3.98-inch CPM SPY27 blade. Its edge runs straight from the handle to the point, while the spine curves down to meet it, so the tip stays aligned with your grip. Spyderco builds the YoJumbo in Golden, Colorado. Overall length is a bit under 9 inches.
Janich designed the shape for defensive use, where the point and straight edge give control and penetration. That straight profile also handles cardboard, rope, and plastic strapping very well. SPY27 is a powder steel made by Crucible for Spyderco, offering a good blend of toughness and edge holding. The handle has jimping and a finger choil to keep your hand in place.
The Compression Lock sits in the spine and releases with a press of the tab, keeping fingers clear of the edge. Cobalt blue G-10 gives a firm grip in all conditions. The large Round Hole opens the blade with one thumb. Check local laws before carrying a blade close to 4 inches. A pocket clip keeps the large knife secure and ready.
