C. Sherman Johnson began in 1958 as a family hobby, when Curt Johnson Jr. developed the Handy Lock Turnbuckle, and it grew into a stainless steel hardware company based in East Haddam, Connecticut. The company is family owned, and its marine products are manufactured in the United States. Over the decades it became one of the largest suppliers of lifeline hardware in the boating industry. CritPro carries a growing selection of genuine C. Sherman Johnson stainless marine hardware for sailors, powerboaters, and boat builders.
C. Sherman Johnson is especially well known for its lifeline fittings, including pelican hooks, gate hooks, toggle jaws, studs, gate eyes, and tubular turnbuckles. The lineup also covers turnbuckles and rigging hardware such as clevis pins, cotter pins, locking nuts, and rigging toggles, along with cleats, pad eyes, fairleads, anchor chain stoppers, and cable accessories. Its Grab 'n Go mooring hook attaches to the end of a boat hook to make picking up and releasing a mooring line easier, and its folding cleats stay low and snag resistant when not in use.
Whether you are tightening up a set of lifelines, adding a cleat to a toerail, or rebuilding rigging that has seen too many seasons, C. Sherman Johnson offers stainless steel hardware designed for demanding marine conditions. Stainless construction resists corrosion in salt air and spray, and properly sized fittings help keep lifelines, stays, and docking lines secure. From a single pelican hook to a full set of lifeline hardware, the brand provides dependable, American-made options for boat owners who care about safety and longevity.
