C. Sherman Johnson 40 ft Boat Splice Line Kit

The C. Sherman Johnson Up to 40 ft Boat Splice Line Kit is a complete upper-lifeline package for larger sailboats using Dyneema in place of stainless cable. It is sized for boats up to 40 ft and combines adjustable terminals with enough synthetic line for the longer runs found on larger decks. The system is designed for installations without gates, while separate Johnson gate kits can be added where boarding access is required. Double-lifeline boats require two kits so the upper and lower runs can be built independently.

Two LS-3600 toggle jaws with splice eyes and two LS-2900 tubular turnbuckles with splice eyes provide the terminal hardware for the lifeline ends. The kit includes 90 ft of gray 1/4 in (6 mm) Dyneema for the longer boat-size range. A fid, needle, twine, and the manufacturer’s splicing and installation instructions are included so the eyes can be formed using the intended method. The turnbuckles retain final tension adjustment while the splice-eye fittings eliminate conventional wire swages.

The security of a synthetic lifeline depends on proper splicing and careful routing through or around the stanchions.
