Description
The C. Sherman Johnson Splice Eye-to-Eye Fitting joins two synthetic-lifeline sections or creates a clean transition point in a Dyneema/Spectra lifeline system. Both ends are shaped to accept spliced line, allowing the fitting to work without wire swages or conventional cable terminals. The low-profile format is intended to minimize unnecessary bulk along the lifeline while maintaining a defined hardware connection point. Dyneema line is not included, leaving the installer free to select the line required for the vessel.
This fitting is part of the Johnson Splice Line system developed for sailors replacing stainless lifeline cable with modern synthetic line. The smooth splice-eye geometry is intended to be easy on the line and keep concentrated bends away from sharper hardware edges. Synthetic lifelines are used in both offshore-racing and cruising applications where low weight and straightforward replacement are valued. Professional splicing is recommended because the security of the finished connection depends on correct eye construction and bury length.
- Splice eye at both ends for synthetic lifeline connections
- Designed around Dyneema and Spectra line systems
- Low-profile connection avoids conventional wire swages
- Line is not included
Use the fitting only with line and splice practices appropriate to the completed lifeline system. Inspection should include both spliced eyes and the fitting surfaces anywhere the line bears against the hardware.
