C. Sherman Johnson Splice-Eye Open Body Turnbuckle

The C. Sherman Johnson Splice-Eye Open Body Turnbuckle combines conventional lifeline adjustment with a termination designed for Dyneema or Spectra line. The open body gives the installer direct access to the threaded adjustment while the splice-eye end connects to synthetic line without a wire swage. This makes the fitting useful when a boat owner wants the tunability of a turnbuckle but is converting the lifeline itself from stainless cable to high-tech line. The synthetic line is not included with the fitting.

The Splice Line design is intended to keep the hardware light and avoid harsh contact points that can damage synthetic fibers. It can be incorporated into cruising or racing lifeline systems where Dyneema/Spectra is permitted and appropriate for the installation. Because the adjustment remains visible, the turnbuckle can be checked during routine lifeline tension and gate inspections. Professional splicing is recommended so the line eye is formed to the correct dimensions and remains secure under load.
