Victron Smart BMS 12/200 for LiFePO4 Batteries

The Victron Smart BMS 12/200 is an all-in-one battery management system for 12V LiFePO4 Smart batteries charged by a 12V alternator.

Managing the alternator path is what distinguishes this from a BMS handling chargers alone. A lithium bank that suddenly stops accepting charge leaves an alternator with its load removed, and the resulting voltage spike destroys the diodes. This controls the alternator connection so that cannot happen.

It monitors individual cell conditions rather than the bank as a whole. Cells drift apart over time, and a pack can look healthy at the terminals while one cell is being over-charged or over-discharged every cycle.

Charging sources, the alternator path and DC loads can each be disconnected on low cell voltage, high cell voltage or excessive temperature.
