Description
The Victron Lynx Smart BMS 1000 manages Victron Lithium Battery Smart LiFePO4 banks on 12V, 24V and 48V systems, with a 1000A contactor.
The 1000A main contactor is a secondary safety device rather than the primary control. Normal operation uses allow-to-charge, allow-to-discharge and DVCC signals to tell chargers and loads what to do. The contactor is what physically disconnects the bank if those controls fail to act.
That layered arrangement matters with lithium, because the failure modes are less forgiving than lead-acid. Charging a cold or full LiFePO4 cell, or discharging one too deeply, causes permanent damage rather than a recoverable condition.
It is built specifically for Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries rather than lithium generally. A different manufacturer's LiFePO4 bank has its own BMS requirements, and this will not manage it correctly. Explore more battery management systems.
