Victron Orion-Tr Smart 48/12-30A DC-DC Charger

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 48/12-30A is an isolated DC-DC charger taking a 48V source and delivering 30A of 12V charging.

Forty-eight volts in is the highest input in the Orion-Tr range, and it exists for boats with a 48V propulsion or trolling system alongside a 12V house bank. Electric propulsion and newer 48V trolling motors are what drive that arrangement, and without a DC-DC charger the two systems need entirely separate charging paths.

Isolation keeps input and output electrically separate, which matters more at 48V than at lower voltages given the potential difference between the two systems. The adaptive three-stage algorithm covers lead-acid and lithium, and the charging profile is fully programmable rather than fixed.

Bluetooth through VictronConnect gives wireless monitoring, configuration, alarms and firmware updates without physical access to the unit. Engine-running detection stops charging when the source system is inactive, remote on/off terminals allow switch or relay control, and units can be paralleled for more capacity.
