Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A DC-DC Charger

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A is an isolated DC-DC charger taking a 12V source and delivering 15A of 24V charging.

Stepping voltage up rather than down is what this model does, and it is the less common direction. A 12V alternator or starter battery charges a 24V service bank. That suits a boat with a 12V engine and 24V house system, or one where a thruster or windlass bank runs at 24V while the engine stays 12V.

The wide input and output range compensates for the voltage drop of long cable runs and the lower charging voltages modern smart alternators produce. Without that compensation a 24V bank fed from a 12V system through any distance never reaches a full charge.

The adaptive three-stage algorithm runs bulk, absorption and float for lead-acid, with a fixed absorption period for lithium, and can be set to fixed output as a DC power supply. Engine-running detection stops the starter battery discharging after shutdown, remote on/off allows external switching, and units can be paralleled. IP43 with terminals facing down.
