The Victron Orion-TR Smart 24/12-30A Isolated DC-DC Converter works as a 30A charger or a regulated 12V power supply from 24V.

Adaptive absorption time is the charging behavior worth understanding, and it responds to how the battery was used. After a shallow discharge the absorption stage stays short; after a deep one it extends. A fixed absorption time either overcharges a barely used battery or leaves a deeply cycled one short.

The power supply mode is the alternative to charging, giving a fixed regulated 12V output. That suits a circuit feeding equipment directly with no battery on it, where a charging algorithm would be wrong rather than merely unnecessary.
