Description

The Victron Orion-TR 24/12-30A Isolated DC-DC Converter gives an adjustable 10-15V output from a 20-35V input, at 30A continuous.

This is a power converter rather than a charger, which is the distinction from the Smart versions. There is no charging algorithm: it holds a fixed regulated output. That suits a circuit feeding equipment directly, and it is the wrong choice for charging a battery that needs staged voltages.

The output is adjustable from 10 to 15V with 12.2V nominal, so it can be trimmed to what the equipment expects. That adjustment also compensates for voltage drop along a long output cable, setting the converter slightly high so the load sees the right figure.

Continuous output is 30A at 40°C, with around 430W available at 25°C falling to 360W at 40°C. Those two figures matter because an engine space runs hot, and rating an installation on the 25°C number will disappoint in service. Explore more DC-DC converters and power supplies.

  • A converter, not a charger: no staged algorithm
  • For equipment fed directly, not a battery
  • Output adjustable 10-15V, nominal 12.2V
  • 430W at 25°C falls to 360W at 40°C
