Description
The Victron Orion-TR 48/12-30A Isolated DC-DC Converter gives a regulated 12V output from a 40-70V input, at 30A continuous.
Forty-eight volts down to 12 serves a boat with electric propulsion or a 48V energy storage system alongside conventional equipment. The 12V side still has to be supplied regardless of what drives the boat, and almost all marine electronics remain 12V.
The 40 to 70V input range covers a 48V bank across its full charge and discharge span. A 48V lithium bank sits well above nominal when fully charged, and a converter with a narrower window would drop out at the top of the charge.
Isolation matters especially here, since a high-voltage propulsion system sharing a ground with 12V electronics is a poor arrangement. Output is adjustable 10 to 15V with 12.2V nominal, at 30A continuous and around 430W at 25°C falling to 360W at 40°C. Explore more DC-DC converters and power supplies.
- 48V down to 12V for electric propulsion systems
- Marine electronics remain 12V regardless
- 40-70V covers a 48V bank across its full span
- Isolation matters most with high-voltage propulsion
