The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24/48 8.5A is an isolated DC-DC charger stepping a 24V source up to 48V charging, with Bluetooth.

Twenty-four volts up to 48 is an uncommon conversion, and it exists for boats running a 48V bank alongside a 24V engine system. Electric propulsion and larger trolling motors are what drive that, and 8.5 amps is what a 24V alternator can reasonably contribute to a 48V bank.

The isolated design separates input and output electrical grounds, which matters where galvanic isolation or ground separation is required. On a metal hull that separation is not optional, since a shared ground gives stray current a path through the hull itself.

The adaptive three-stage profile supports lead-acid and lithium, with Bluetooth monitoring and configuration through VictronConnect. A remote On/Off input adds system control, units can be paralleled for more output, and the charger holds full rated output through a substantial temperature range.
