Description
The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-20A is an isolated DC-DC charger converting a 24V source to 20A of 12V charging, with Bluetooth.
Stepping 24 volts down to 12 is the direction most larger vessels need, where the engine and alternator run at 24V but electronics and accessories are 12V. Almost all marine electronics are 12V, so a 24V boat still needs a 12V supply for the chartplotter, radios and lighting.
It can run either with a programmable charging profile or as a regulated DC power supply. That second mode matters here. Where the 12V circuit feeds equipment directly rather than a battery, a fixed regulated output is what those devices actually want.
Adaptive three-stage charging covers lead-acid, with the appropriate fixed absorption behavior for lithium. Engine-running detection prevents discharge when the engine is off, the isolated design keeps grounds separate, and Bluetooth gives setup, monitoring and warnings through VictronConnect. Explore more DC-DC battery chargers.
- 24V down to 12V, the direction larger vessels need
