Description

The Victron Orion-TR 48/24-16A Isolated DC-DC Converter gives an adjustable 20-30V output from a 40-70V input, at 16A continuous.

Stepping 48V down to 24V suits a vessel with a 48V bank and 24V equipment, which is an increasingly common split. Electric propulsion and large lithium banks run at 48V while thrusters, windlasses and much marine equipment remain 24V.

Galvanic isolation matters particularly here, since a high-voltage system sharing a ground with lower-voltage equipment is a poor arrangement. Keeping the two sides electrically separate contains any fault to the side it started on.

The 40 to 70V input covers a 48V bank across its full charge range, and output is adjustable 20 to 30V with 24.2V nominal. Continuous output is 16A at 40°C, with around 430W at 25°C falling to 380W at 40°C. Explore more DC-DC converters and power supplies.

  • 48V down to 24V for propulsion and equipment splits
  • Thrusters and windlasses stay at 24V
  • Isolation contains a fault to one side
  • 40-70V covers a 48V bank across its charge range
