Description
The Victron Orion IP67 24V-to-12V 100A DC-DC Converter has resin-molded electronics for engine rooms and exposed service areas.
Resin molding is what allows an IP67 rating without a sealed enclosure that could still admit condensation. There is no internal air space for moisture to form in, which is how ordinary sealed electronics fail slowly in a damp machinery space.
A hundred amps of 12V output from a 24V source suits a vessel running 24V propulsion or charging with 12V electronics throughout. Most marine electronics are 12V, so a 24V boat needs a substantial conversion rather than a small one for a couple of instruments.
The sealed construction handles water, oil, dirt and vibration in places ordinary electronics would need a protected enclosure. That saves building a box for it, which is a real cost on an installation in a machinery space. Explore more DC-DC converters and power supplies.
- Resin molded, so no air space for condensation
- That is how sealed electronics fail in a damp space
- 100A of 12V suits a 24V boat with 12V electronics
- No protective enclosure to build around it
