Description
The Victron Centaur is a 24V 60A three-stage three-bank charger with universal AC input and three isolated outputs.
Sixty amps is the largest 24V Centaur, sized for a boat with substantial 24V house loads where the 30A and 40A versions would leave banks short overnight. The universal input also accepts a suitable high-voltage DC supply, so the charger works from a DC bus as well as shore power, which is unusual on a marine charger.
Three isolated outputs charge separate banks at once, each capable of the full rated current depending on demand rather than being locked to a fixed share. Isolation keeps banks of different ages or chemistries from being tied together through the charger, which is where a shared output causes trouble.
Three-stage charging runs bulk, then timed absorption once current drops to the set level, then float, with internal temperature sensing adjusting voltage as conditions change. A DIP switch selects charge and float voltages for flooded, gel or AGM, and thermal protection reduces output in extreme conditions rather than shutting down. Explore more 3-bank battery chargers.
