Description
The Victron Centaur is a 12V 80A three-stage three-bank charger with universal AC input and three isolated outputs.
Eighty amps is the largest Centaur made, and at that output the charger is doing work a smaller unit cannot. A large house bank drawn down overnight comes back before the next morning rather than over two days. That capacity also means the AC supply has to support it. An 80 amp 12V charger draws real current from a shore pedestal, which is worth checking against the berth's service.
Three isolated outputs let separate banks charge at once with each able to take the full rated current as demand shifts between them. Isolation matters more as capacity rises, since 80 amps finding its way into the wrong bank through a shared output does damage quickly.
The construction addresses the conditions directly: coated aluminum housing, drip shield, stainless hardware and acrylic-coated boards against heat, humidity, salt air and corrosion. Three-stage charging with temperature compensation runs bulk, timed absorption and float, and a DIP switch sets the profile for flooded, gel or AGM. Explore more 3-bank battery chargers.
