Description

The Quick Anchor Rode is 20 feet of 7mm chain spliced to 100 feet of 1/2 inch 3-plait polyester rope, using the Slim Splice system.

One hundred feet is the short rode in the Quick range, suiting a day boat anchoring in shallow water rather than a cruising boat lying overnight. At seven times depth for working scope, 100 feet covers anchoring in around 12 feet with the chain allowed for, which is most inshore and lake use.

Seven millimeter chain is correspondingly lighter than the 8mm and 10mm rodes, which keeps weight out of the bow on a smaller boat where it affects trim. Chain weight is what holds the pull horizontal at the anchor, so 20 feet of it is doing real work rather than just protecting against chafe.

The Slim Splice is cut slimmer and more tapered than a conventional one so it passes through a gypsy without catching at the rope-to-chain transition. Three-plait polyester handles better than laid rope coming off a windlass and stows flatter in a shallow locker. Explore more anchor rodes and chain.
