Description

The Wichard Large Anchor Swivel is 316L stainless for 1/2 inch and 9/16 inch chain, sized at 12mm and 14mm.

A swivel lets the anchor rotate into the bow roller by itself, so it seats correctly whether it surfaced backward, sideways or twisted on the way up. Without one, someone has to lean over the pulpit and turn a heavy anchor by hand, which is the moment most bow rollers and stemheads get damaged.

It matters most in the conditions where it is hardest to do anything about: chop, a hurried retrieval, or wind pushing the bow around while the anchor is still swinging. Half inch and 9/16 inch chain is heavy ground tackle, suiting cruising sailboats and larger center consoles rather than small craft.

316L is the low-carbon grade of 316 stainless, which resists the intergranular corrosion that can affect welded stainless at a permanently submerged joint. That matters on a fitting that spends its life underwater and takes the full load of the boat when the anchor is set. Explore more anchor windlasses.

  • Anchor self-aligns into the roller every retrieval
  • No leaning over the pulpit to turn a heavy anchor
  • For 1/2 inch and 9/16 inch chain, 12mm and 14mm
  • 316L resists corrosion at a submerged welded joint
