The splice where rope meets chain is the weak point of any rode, and it is also the part that jams in a windlass gypsy. Quick's splice is cut slimmer and more tapered than a conventional one so it feeds through without snagging. That matters more than it sounds. A rode that jams at the splice stops an anchor recovery halfway, usually with the bow swinging.
