Description
The Mastervolt SCM60 MPPT-MB is a 60A solar charge controller for 12V, 24V or 48V banks, accepting up to 145V PV input.
MPPT tracking harvests considerably more energy than PWM regulation from the same panels, because it converts excess panel voltage into usable charging current rather than discarding it. On a boat where panel area is limited by deck space, that difference decides whether solar covers the daily load or merely slows the drain.
A 145V PV input ceiling is what allows panels to be wired in series rather than parallel, which cuts cable length, reduces installation complexity and lowers electrical losses over the run. It works with traditional 36 and 72-cell panels as well as the common 60-cell type, so panel choice is not constrained by the controller.
Pre-programmed profiles cover multiple battery types including Mastervolt lithium-ion, and a battery temperature sensor adjusts charging as temperature changes. MasterBus integration connects it to a Mastervolt energy system for monitoring and automation, and the fanless design runs silently. Protected against overload, high and low battery voltage, overheating, short circuits and reverse polarity. Explore more solar charge controllers.
