The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/70-TR VE.Can is a 70A solar charge controller accepting up to 250V PV input, with TR screw terminals.

The TR designation refers to the terminals. Screw terminals give a conventional hard-wired connection for the PV and battery circuits, where other models in the range use different connection methods. That matters for an installation being wired in place rather than assembled on a bench, since screw terminals accept the cable directly without an intermediate connector.

A 250V PV ceiling allows more panels in series, which lowers current for the same power and permits considerably thinner cable across a long run. Natural cooling replaces a fan, so there is nothing mechanical to fail and no noise, at very high conversion efficiency.

VE.Can integrates the controller with compatible Victron components and synchronizes it with additional controllers in a larger installation. SafetyShield+ protection covers excessive temperature, short circuits and reverse polarity, and compatible GX equipment adds remote management through the Victron platform where internet access exists.
