Description
The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/60 is a 60A solar charge controller accepting up to 250V PV input, with built-in Bluetooth.
Two hundred and fifty volts is the highest PV input in the SmartSolar range, and it changes what is possible with the array wiring. More panels in series means higher voltage and lower current for the same power, which allows considerably thinner cable over a long run. On a large installation that saves real money in copper as well as reducing losses.
Intelligent load management can disconnect loads at a configured threshold to protect batteries from repeated over-discharge, and adjusts its behavior when the bank has not been returned to full. Chronic partial charging is what quietly kills batteries on solar systems, and that logic is what catches it.
The controller can restart a severely depleted battery from very low voltage where the cells themselves are still recoverable. Bluetooth gives setup and monitoring through VictronConnect, and compatible GX equipment extends that to Victron Remote Management where the installation has internet access.
