The Ka-Bar USMC Fighter has a 7-inch black epoxy powder coated 1095 carbon steel clip point blade with a USMC tang stamp at 12 inches overall, a polished stacked leather handle with a coated carbon steel guard and butt, and a brown leather belt sheath marked with the USMC logo.

This is the pattern the Marine Corps adopted in 1942, and the tang stamp is part of why people buy it. The shape has barely changed since, which is unusual for any piece of military equipment still in production. Stacked leather is washers of leather threaded onto the tang and compressed, giving a handle that warms in the hand, grips when damp and wears in over decades.

1095 takes a very keen edge and comes back on a stone quickly, and the epoxy powder coat protects a steel that would otherwise rust.
