Description

The Ka-Bar USA Fighting Knife has a 7-inch black epoxy powder coated 1095 carbon steel clip point blade with a blood groove at 12 inches overall, a black Kraton G handle, a coated carbon steel guard and butt, and a black leather belt sheath.

The blood groove is a fuller, a channel milled along the blade. Its real job is structural: removing steel from the center of a long blade cuts weight while keeping the spine and edge intact, the same principle as an I-beam. It does not do what the name suggests, and knifemakers have used fullers on long blades for centuries for exactly that weight reason.

1095 carbon steel takes a very keen edge and comes back on a stone quickly, and the epoxy powder coat protects a steel that would otherwise rust. Kraton G is a soft synthetic rubber that grips when wet, and the steel guard and butt let the knife take handling a scaled handle would not. Explore more Camp and Field Knives.
