The Ka-Bar Short Tanto has a 5.25-inch black epoxy powder coated 1095 carbon steel tanto blade at 9.38 inches overall, a black Kraton G handle, a coated carbon steel guard and butt cap, and a black leather sheath.

This is the standard Ka-Bar fighting knife shortened and reground as a tanto, which changes what it does. The reinforced front corner takes load a clip point tip would not, at the cost of the sweeping slice the original gives. At 5.25 inches the blade handles camp and utility work more easily than the 7-inch version while keeping the same guard, butt cap and construction.

1095 takes a very keen edge and comes back on a stone quickly, and the epoxy powder coat protects a steel that would otherwise rust.
