The Ka-Bar US Army Fighting Knife has a 7-inch black epoxy powder coated carbon steel clip point blade with a tang stamp at 12 inches overall, a stacked leather handle with a coated carbon steel guard and pommel, and a glass filled nylon sheath.
The nylon sheath is what separates this from the leather-sheathed version. It tolerates water, grit and solvents that leather does not, and it will not stretch or rot if stored damp. Stacked leather is washers of leather threaded onto the tang and compressed, giving a handle that warms in the hand and wears in over decades.
