Description

The Ka-Bar USMC Fighting Knife has a 7-inch black epoxy powder coated carbon steel clip point blade with a partially serrated edge and a USMC tang stamp at 12 inches overall, a stacked leather handle with a coated carbon steel guard and butt.

This is the serrated version of the pattern the Marine Corps adopted in 1942. Serrations nearest the handle saw through rope, webbing and strapping, and the plain section forward keeps the controlled cutting. The tang stamp is what buyers come for, and the shape has barely changed since, which is unusual for any piece of military equipment still in production.

Stacked leather is washers of leather threaded onto the tang and compressed, giving a handle that warms in the hand and wears in over decades. The blade is 1095 carbon steel, which takes a very keen edge and comes back on a stone quickly, and the epoxy powder coat protects a steel that would otherwise rust.
