Jabsco 8-Blade Nitrile Impeller Kit 2-9/16-Inch

The Jabsco 6056-0003-P Impeller Kit is an 8-blade nitrile impeller, 2-9/16 inches in diameter, with a keyed drive. With only eight blades, each vane has more room to flex, so the impeller handles small solids and debris better than a 12-blade version. Nitrile makes it a good fit for oily bilge water and transfer of light petroleum products. The brass hub insert is molded into the rubber and gives the key a solid seat.

The keyed hub uses a small key in the shaft and hub to carry torque. Check the key when you change the impeller and replace it if it is worn or loose. Many 2-9/16-inch impellers exist in different widths, so match the width and drive to your old impeller. This combination is useful for bilge and transfer duty where the water is rarely clean.

Remove the old impeller with a puller, clean the housing, and inspect the cam and wear plate. Lubricate the new blades before installing, and fit the new cover gasket from the kit. Run the pump with water right away, since nitrile blades heat quickly when dry. Keep a spare in the boat, since a broken impeller on a bilge pump can go unnoticed until water rises.
