Jabsco 8-Blade Neoprene Impeller Kit 2-9/16-Inch

The Jabsco 17018-0001-P Impeller Kit is an 8-blade neoprene impeller, 2-9/16 inches in diameter, for a 5/8-inch shaft. The -0001 suffix marks it as neoprene, the standard for seawater and freshwater pumping. Eight blades leave more space between the vanes, which helps with water that carries sand or small debris. It is a practical choice for raw-water pumps that draw from shallow or sandy water.

Neoprene stays flexible and resists abrasion, so it holds up well in raw-water cooling and deck wash pumps. The 5/8-inch shaft size is one of the common Jabsco sizes, but the hub style still needs to match. Compare the old impeller's hub before ordering to be sure it fits. Neoprene is not suited to oil or fuel, so use a nitrile impeller if the pump will handle petroleum.

Install the new impeller with the blades trailing in the direction of rotation and grease them first. Look for missing blade pieces in the old impeller and find any fragments before restarting the pump. Store a spare in a cool, dark place so the rubber does not harden before it is needed.
