Jabsco 12-Blade Neoprene Impeller Kit 3-3/4-Inch

The Jabsco 17370-0001-P Impeller Kit is a 12-blade neoprene impeller, 3-3/4 inches in diameter, with a double flat drive. A double flat hub fits a shaft with two flat sides, which locks the impeller in place without a key or splines. It is meant for large pumps where steady output and good pressure are needed. The -0001 suffix is Jabsco's code for its neoprene compound, which helps when matching a replacement to an old part.

Twelve neoprene blades sweep a large chamber, so the pump moves a lot of water per turn. Neoprene is the standard compound for raw-water cooling. The double flat design is simple and strong, but the flats on the shaft can wear and round over time. It works well for seawater, lake water, and fresh water, but should not be used to pump oil or fuel.

When you change the impeller, check how snugly the new hub fits on the shaft. If it rocks, the shaft may need replacing, since a loose fit can wear the hub quickly. Use a puller rather than a screwdriver, grease the blades, and replace the cover gasket at the same time. Store a spare in its sealed bag out of direct sun so it stays soft until it is needed.
