The Jabsco 17935-0001-P Impeller Kit fits pumps that take a 3-3/4-inch, 12-blade neoprene impeller about 2-9/16 inches wide, driven by splines on a 1-inch shaft. It is the narrower partner of the 17936-0001-P, using the same diameter and hub in a shorter body. Pumps that use this size are common on midsize diesel engines and larger generators. Size matters a lot with impellers this large, because a mismatched one may not even fit past the cam.
The splines spread the load around the hub, so the impeller stays locked to the shaft under heavy load. Neoprene is the right compound for raw-water cooling with seawater or fresh water. Twelve blades give a smooth flow with good pressure. It is a solid choice for a boat that runs long hours, since the wide brass hub keeps its grip on the shaft season after season.
Since the wider and narrower versions share a diameter, measure the old impeller's width before ordering. Look for missing blade pieces when you pull the old impeller, and track them down in the hoses or heat exchanger. Lubricate the new blades and keep the old cover gasket only if it is still soft and unbroken. If you see a shiny worn band on the cam or wear plate, fix that before installing the new impeller.
