Blue Sea 8079 AC Main Only Circuit Breaker Panel

The Blue Sea Systems 8079 is a main-only AC panel with a single 7242 double-pole 50A toggle breaker, measuring 2.63 by 3.75 inches.

Combining switching and circuit protection in one device means the main breaker is also the main switch, so there is nothing extra to install. At 2.63 inches tall and just over 8 ounces this is the smallest AC main available, which suits adding a proper main to a boat that never had one.

The trip free design cannot be held on during a fault current condition. That rules out the failure where somebody holds a breaker closed to keep a circuit alive, which defeats the protection entirely and is exactly what happens when a main trips at an inconvenient moment.

Nominal voltage is 120V AC with a maximum of 277V AC or 65V DC, sized for 50 amp shore service. One green 120V AC LED and one red are fitted, the red indicating reverse polarity, and a safety ground screw is provided on the panel back. Explore more marine electrical panels.
