Blue Sea 7140 60A 187-Series Surface Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7140 is a 60 amp surface mount breaker in the 187 Series, rated to 48 volts DC.

Surface mounting fixes the breaker on top of a bulkhead rather than through it, which is what suits a structural bulkhead or one too thick to cut cleanly. It also means the breaker can go on a stringer, an engine bearer or the back of a locker where there is no panel face to work with at all.

Sixty amps covers a sub-panel feed or a moderate accessory circuit, and the thermal bi-metal element tolerates the surge a motor draws on startup. A magnetic breaker at the same rating would trip on that inrush and need resetting every time.

Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42, with Type III class operation, manual reset and trip free construction. The 5/16 terminal studs take heavy gauge lugs with room to work, the lever reports trip status by orientation, and it is waterproof and ignition protected to SAE J1171.
