Description

The Blue Sea Systems 7040 is a 60 amp panel mount breaker in the 187 Series, rated to 48 volts DC.

Thermal breakers respond to heat, so ambient temperature affects when they trip. One mounted in a hot engine space will trip earlier than the same breaker in a cool cabin. That is worth allowing for when choosing where the breaker goes, and it is a difference between thermal and magnetic hydraulic designs rather than a fault.

Sixty amps covers a sub-panel feed or a moderate accessory circuit, sized to what the cable can carry. The round self-trimming case installs through a bulkhead with a standard hole saw, finishing its own edge with no bezel needed.

Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42, in Type III class with manual reset and trip free operation. Recessed mounting holes keep the face clean, 5/16 terminal studs take heavy gauge lugs, and it is waterproof and ignition protected to SAE J1171. Explore more marine circuit breakers.

  • Thermal breakers trip earlier in a hot engine space
  • Allow for ambient temperature when siting it
  • 60A for a sub-panel or accessory feed
  • Self-trimming case, no bezel needed
