Blue Sea 7044 100A 187-Series Panel Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7044 is a 100 amp panel mount 187-Series breaker with a thermal bi-metal blade, rated to 48 volts DC.

One hundred amps is the common size for a house bank feed or a mid-size inverter circuit, which makes it the one most often specified in this range. It is also the point where cable gets heavy enough that terminal clearance matters, and the 5/16 studs have room around them for the lugs a 100 amp run needs.

Maximum interrupt rating is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, dropping to 3,000 at 24 volts and 1,500 at 42 as system voltage rises. Checking that against the system rather than assuming the headline figure is worth doing on any installation above 12 volts.

The breaker is Type III class, switchable with manual reset and trip free, so it cannot be held closed against a fault. The self-trimming round case goes in with a hole saw and needs no trim bezel, the lever shows trip status by its orientation, and the case is waterproof thermoset polyester meeting SAE J1171.
