Blue Sea 7136 30A 187-Series Surface Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7136 is a 30 amp surface mount breaker in the 187 Series, rated to 48 volts DC.

Thirty amps is the smallest surface mount rating in the series, matching 10 AWG cable in typical marine service. At the small end the temptation is to use an inline fuse instead, but a resettable breaker with a visible lever tells you a circuit has faulted rather than leaving a dead circuit to be traced.

Surface mounting fixes it to the face of a bulkhead with no cutout, which suits an engine space or locker where the surfaces are structural rather than panels. It also puts the terminals in the open where they can be reached with a wrench, instead of behind a console.

The thermal bi-metal element gives Type III protection with manual reset and trip free operation. Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42.
