Blue Sea 7135 25A 187-Series Surface Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7135 is a 25 amp surface mount breaker in the 187 Series, the smallest rating in the family, rated to 48 volts DC.

Twenty-five amps is the bottom of the range, for a circuit small enough that most installers would reach for a fuse. The argument for a breaker here is the reset. A fuse blown at sea needs a spare of the right rating found and fitted, where this needs a lever pushed back up once the cause is cleared.

Surface mounting fixes it to a bulkhead face with no cutout at all, which suits adding protection to an existing circuit without cutting into finished joinery. That makes it a practical retrofit part as much as a new-build one.

The thermal bi-metal element gives Type III protection with manual reset and trip free operation, so it cannot be held closed against a fault. Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42. Waterproof, ignition protected to SAE J1171, with the lever showing trip status by orientation.
