Blue Sea 7141 70A 187-Series Surface Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7141 is a 70 amp surface mount breaker in the 187 Series, rated to 48 volts DC.

Surface mounting means no cutout, which makes this the version to reach for when the breaker has to go somewhere that cannot be cut. A cored bulkhead, a structural frame or a molded liner all fall into that category, and cutting any of them creates a water path into the core.

Seventy amps sits between the common 60 and 80 amp sizes, for a run whose cable rating lands there rather than on a round number. Fitting the next size up would leave the conductor unprotected through the difference.

The thermal bi-metal element gives Type III protection with manual reset and trip free operation. Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42.
