Description

The Ancor Heavy-Duty Hex Lug and Terminal Crimper handles 8 AWG through 4/0 AWG with revolving dies, measuring about 24.4 inches long.

A hex crimp compresses the lug evenly around the conductor from all sides, which is what makes a low-resistance connection. A crimp made with pliers or an improvised tool deforms the lug on one axis only, leaving strands loose inside. That connection works at first and heats under load later.

The 24.4-inch handles give the leverage needed to crimp large-gauge conductors by hand, without an impact tool or a workaround. That length is the tool doing its job. A shorter crimper simply cannot generate enough force on 4/0.

Revolving dies let the operator select the correct size for the cable and terminal being used. Using the wrong die is as bad as using the wrong tool, since an oversized die leaves the crimp loose and an undersized one cuts strands. It covers 8 AWG through 4/0 AWG. Explore more wire tools and crimpers.

  • Hex crimps compress the lug evenly from all sides
  • Pliers leave strands loose inside the lug
  • That connection works at first, then heats
  • 24.4-inch handles give the force 4/0 needs
