Description

The Ancor 6 AWG Heavy-Duty Lugs are a 100-pack in annealed tinned copper with a seamless barrel, for 1/4-inch studs.

Quarter-inch is the smallest of three stud sizes stocked in 6 AWG, alongside 5/16 and 3/8. It appears on smaller fuse blocks, terminal studs and some equipment connections rather than on battery switches. Three sizes in one gauge means checking the hardware rather than ordering from memory.

A lug hole larger than the stud leaves the terminal bearing on a washer instead of seated flat, and that connection loosens with vibration. At 6 AWG the current is high enough that a loose joint heats rather than simply misbehaving.

Heavy-duty annealed tinned copper supports strong current flow while resisting corrosion from salt and moisture. The seamless barrel gives strength after proper crimping, and the closed end reduces moisture intrusion into the joint. Explore more battery lugs and ring terminals.

  • 1/4 inch, smallest of three stud sizes in 6 AWG
  • Found on fuse blocks and terminal studs, not switches
  • Check the hardware rather than order from memory
  • A lug on a washer loosens and then heats
