Description
The Ancor 4 AWG Heavy-Duty Lugs are a 100-pack in annealed tinned copper with a seamless barrel, for 5/16-inch studs.
Four AWG lugs match the cable used for windlass feeds, sub-panel supplies and charging runs, which is the most common heavy circuit size on a recreational boat. A 100-pack suits a shop rather than one installation, since a single boat rarely needs more than a dozen at this gauge.
The lug must match the cable gauge exactly. A 2 AWG barrel crimped onto 4 AWG leaves the strands loose and the joint heats under load. Sizing down is impossible: the cable simply will not enter a smaller barrel.
Heavy-duty annealed tinned copper supports strong current flow while resisting corrosion from salt and moisture. The seamless barrel gives mechanical strength after crimping, and the closed-end design keeps moisture out of the joint from the terminal side. Explore more battery lugs and ring terminals.
- 4 AWG is the most common heavy circuit size
- A 100-pack suits a shop, not one boat
- The lug must match the cable gauge exactly
- An oversized barrel leaves strands loose
