Description
The ACR GlobalFix V6 Category 2 EPIRB is a versatile Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon suited to both recreational and commercial vessels, with Return Link Service (RLS) and a mobile app included.
Return Link Service reassures you by confirming the beacon successfully sent its distress message and that the message was received. ACR's Near Field Communication (NFC) lets the beacon pair with a smartphone for quick diagnostics, confirming both that the battery has a charge and that the EPIRB checks out as fully operational. That makes it a solid choice whether you're hugging the coast, crossing open ocean, or fishing commercially anywhere in the world.
The GlobalFix V6 pinpoints its position globally through GNSS (GPS, Galileo, and Glonass), and triggering the device sends a digital distress transmission on 406 MHz sending your GPS fix, precise to within 100 meters, out to the global Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue satellite constellation. Position and vessel identification then relay to ground stations, helping determine the scope of the rescue. Once activated, a 121.5 MHz homing signal also transmits alongside the satellite signal, helping rescuers close in once they reach the scene, which matters a lot if wind or current has moved the beacon since it went off. Visual and infrared strobes help pinpoint the beacon further.
Placing a smartphone near the beacon opens the ACR Product App, showing battery life, self-tests and GNSS tests completed, and activation time, with a map view of prior GNSS test locations, accuracy, and satellites used. Return Link Service confirms your rescue transmission was received: a blue light you can spot easily flashes to confirm reception through the Galileo satellite network, so you know rescuers have your location and rescue operations are underway.
ACR has built a genuine reputation worldwide for marine rescue electronics, and the GlobalFix V6 scales to fit any vessel, recreational or commercial, backed by long-life lithium batteries and a 5-year warranty.
