Description
The ACR GlobalFix V5 EPIRB combines 406 MHz satellite connectivity with Automatic Identification System (AIS) functionality. When activated, it transmits your emergency signal to the global Cospas-Sarsat satellite rescue system and also broadcasts an AIS safety message on VHF frequencies that nearby AIS-equipped vessels can see immediately. Other key features include Return Link Service (RLS) technology that gives visual confirmation your distress message has been received, a 121.5 MHz homing signal, and visible and infrared strobe lights for target identification at night or in poor visibility.
Near Field Communication (NFC) lets you monitor the EPIRB using the ACR Product App on your smartphone, checking battery life, self-test results, GNSS test history, and activation time without specialized equipment. The unit accurately derives its position using GPS, Galileo, and Glonass GNSS networks, relaying GPIRB position accurate to within 100 meters through the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network. AIS alerts let nearby vessels navigate directly to the EPIRB's location, while Return Link Service confirms through the Galileo satellite network that your distress message and beacon location have been detected, reducing the uncertainty of a mayday situation. Browse more in our marine safety category.
Key Features: 406 MHz Cospas-Sarsat satellite distress signal, AIS alerts for local rescue, Return Link Service (RLS) confirmation, NFC mobile app diagnostics, 121.5 MHz homing signal, white and infrared dual strobe technology, 72-channel multi-constellation GNSS receiver, 10-year replaceable lithium battery, Category I hydrostatic auto-deploy, 5-year warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does AIS help with rescue? Once activated, the EPIRB broadcasts an AIS safety message on VHF frequencies that nearby AIS-equipped vessels can see immediately, letting local responders navigate directly to its location without waiting on the broader Cospas-Sarsat satellite response.
What does Return Link Service do? It sends a signal back through the Galileo satellite network confirming your distress message and beacon location have been received, shown by an easy-to-see flashing blue light on the unit.
Can I check the EPIRB's status with my phone? Yes, NFC lets the ACR Product App automatically open when your smartphone is placed near the unit, showing battery life, self-test results, and GNSS test history.
