The stop suits new work, where both ends can be pushed in until they seat. For a repair in a fixed run, where the fitting has to clear the cut, use the slip coupling without a stop instead. It is a press connection, made with a pressing tool rather than threading or brazing, so there is no open flame and no cutting threads in place. Suits Schedule 5 through Schedule 40 stainless pipe.
