The Victron Orion 24/12-80 IP20 DC-DC Converter gives up to 80 amps of 12V output from a 24V system, with a remote on/off connection.
Eighty amps is a substantial conversion, and it draws around 40 amps from the 24V side to deliver it. That input current is what sizes the cable and the fuse on the 24V side, and it is easy to plan around the output figure and undersize the supply.
The remote on/off takes a low-power switch or an engine run/stop signal rather than the full input current. Routing 40 amps through a helm switch and back would need heavy cable in both directions, where a signal wire does the same job.
