The Victron Blue Smart IP67 is a 12V 17A sealed charger with electronics encapsulated in resin inside a cast-aluminum housing.
Seventeen amps sits between the 15A IP65 and the 25A IP67 in the sealed range, for a moderate 12V bank in a harsh location. The choice between IP65 and IP67 matters more than the amperage. IP65 handles a damp locker; IP67 goes in an engine room where oil mist, vibration and standing water are all normal.
Resin encapsulation removes the air space where condensation would otherwise form and corrode the board. That is how an unsealed charger fails in a damp space, and it fails quietly rather than announcing itself.
The adaptive five-stage process runs bulk, absorption, recondition, float and storage, optimizing the cycle to battery condition. Storage mode lowers long-term float voltage when the battery is unused, reducing gassing, corrosion and sulfation.
