The Victron Blue Smart IP22 is a 12V 30A charger with built-in Bluetooth, using a six-stage adaptive algorithm, for dry mounting.

Storage mode is the stage worth understanding. After long periods without discharge it lowers float voltage to reduce gassing and positive-plate corrosion, then periodically raises it again to limit electrolyte stratification and sulfation. That is what separates a charger safe to leave connected for months from one that slowly destroys a battery while appearing to maintain it.

The six stages run test, bulk, absorption, recondition, float and storage, with the process adapting to how the battery is actually used rather than following fixed timing. It supports lithium-ion with an appropriate algorithm and includes a recovery function that starts charging from extremely low voltage.

Night and Low modes reduce output and stop the fan where quiet operation matters, which is worth having on a charger running in a cabin overnight. High conversion efficiency cuts heat and standby consumption once charging finishes, and over-temperature protection reduces output automatically. IP22 is dry-mount only.
